Full Time: Newcastle 1-2 Liverpool

Liverpool pulled off the unexpected in the North East this afternoon with Darwin Nunez banging in 2 excellent finishes to win a game that looked well and truly out of our hands after a shocker of a first half.

In what was one of the worst refereeing performances I have ever seen in all my years playing and watching the game Newcastle went in at half time 1-0 up..

The reds started brightly breaking though a good few times before the game started to turn. Trent was barged off the ball by Gordon which was clearly a foul. He threw the ball back on the pitch and was booked for throwing the ball away.. Skills..

Virg was sent off for a foul on Isak.. VAR is redundant.. and these refs are getting away with all sorts. Not just our game here but every game..

In between The Geordies took the lead and no complaints here. Salah picked a ball up and fired a ball to Trent who missed his control and Gordon was through to fire under the excellent Alisson's legs..

Klopps tactical decision was to take off our best outfield player Diaz for Joe Gomez. Sure we needed to shore up the defence but the only player who can actually hold the ball up and create things subbed off..

The way Trent is being utilised is now a paramount question. He has been targeted time and again now for years. If he was in midfield we would probably have been a few goals up and been a lot more solid in defence. As Newcastle didn't really do anything to warrant the half time lead..

In all honesty the second half was a bit of a non event. A bit pedestrian at times. Trent was again targeted and the hosts had a few chances. Nothing clear cut and then the subs started in which was a turning point.

Newcastle took off their best players and Klopp finally brought Nunez on. How Nunez was not brought on sooner also beggars belief and how he isn't starting is another question for the management.

In a game where you need fight he most certainly showed up and after a bad control from the Newcastle centre back Nunez was in to blast a shot hard and low to the keepers right and the game was on.

We defended really well and now were counter attacking a bit more. When Mo found himself free he slotted a ball through to Nunez who was stretching their defence with each run. His pace took him away to fire another shot over the keeper into that far left corner.

Scenes.. Are the mentality monsters back. It certainly feels like it.. What an excellent result. You can try to screw us over but we'll keep coming back. Proud of our boys tonight..
