Full Time: Brentford 1-4 Liverpool

Liverpool were in great form in this first win at Brentford for years. It could have been plenty more too as we ran out easy winners.. It was a striking masterclass from pretty much all our attacking options. The Reds sit top of the league again with City facing a tough game against Chelsea later today.

First Half

This was not your average early kick off first half by any stretch. Both teams started with loads of energy. Liverpool more patient in their build up. While Brentford tried to counter with pace. While defending deep..

It was a good honest game before the diving started once again from the home side. Get the ball down the side of the pitch. Feel a contact and go down. The most simple tactic for teams who simply aren't good enough to handle a strong opponent.

In Brentford's case it couldn't have been so far away from the right move as their attacking play before that looked to be causing problems. Opening us up quite easily at times. Yet it cost them dearly as Nunez broke the deadlock.

After a long ball from a free kick Virg cleared with ease to Jota who broke free and laid on an excellent headed assist to Nunez. Who ran through one on one and chipped a lovely goal over the keepers head.

The only downside from what was an exceptional first half display from The Reds was we lost Curtis Jones & Diogo Jota to injury. Both were in great form too.. They were running the show. We will have to wait and see how long they are out for. Its hard to call at this stage..

Second Half

If injuries were bad in the first half.. We started with what could be another as Darwin Nunez didn't come out for the start of the second period.. Again it could be more caution fingers crossed but we will find out later.

Liverpool carried on where they left off and quickly got the second after silencing the crowd with a possession based to start to the half. Mo who missed a sitter started to turn it on. First with an assist for Mac Allister. Who took a nice touch in the box before slipping a shot low to the keepers right.

Then Mo broke free after a long clearance from Kelleher. Gakpo rose high to flick on a header for Mo to latch on too. He raced clear. Outmuscled the defender and shot across the keeper to find the far right hand corner.

Kelleher who had a great game was really unlucky when he pulled off a great save only for Brentford to score from the rebound. He also pulled off a great instinctive save late on. Yet sandwiched in between was Liverpools fourth. Gakpo finding himself free on the left side of the goal and finishing with ease, Curling one into the bottom left hand corner..

Summary

Liverpool will count the cost of losing even more players to injury. How long they will be out time will tell. Some players will return for sure too. But the strength of this squads depth is quality and it simply has to be..

When you are bringing on Gakpo, Gomez, Elliott, Gravenberch & Mo you can see the strength. We could do with some back up now though as things are getting thin on the bench..

Even so. This was one heck of a win for The Reds. A must win as they all are at this stage.. Yet we won with ease and put the pressure back on City & Arsenal. Which will see saw til the final whistle of the season we are sure. But this win feels really good..
