A Bit About Arthur:

Arthur Melo was born in 12th August 1996 in Brazil. He started his career in Goias but moved to Gremio as a 14-year-old and he stayed there for eight years. In 2018 he took the big step (might have been a plane actually) to Barca and after two years he moved on to Juventus where he is still under contract.

At the end of this years summer transfer window Liverpool sealed a loan deal with the Italian giants to take him to Anfield. Unfortunately he has had bad luck with injuries and when he came to Liverpool he hadn't played a competitive game for almost five months.

He made his Reds debut at the end of the game against Napoli and he didn't have much time to impress. Soon after rumours started circulating that Arthur was considered not good enough and that Liverpool would terminate the loan already in January.

Those of us who has been around a bit have seen how Klopp lets new players get the time they need to settle.. We did not quite believe those rumours...

Extra Training & Trainers:

When two league games were delayed due to the death of Queen Elizabeth many players took the chance to get some days off. Not Arthur!

He told the coaching staff that he wanted to stay around at the AXA Training Centre to work himself back to fitness and also play in the Academy to get some game time. He enlisted three personal trainers too.. A fitness coach, a fitness coach and a nutritionist..

Last Saturday he played the full game for the U21 team, 161 days after he last played a whole competitive game. And this Tuesday he played again and impressed although the Reds were beaten 1-0 by Rochdale in the EFL Trophy.

Arthur is a versatile player who can play as a deep-lying playmaker, central midfielder, box-to-box midfielder and also as a holding midfielder. His agility, technical ability, dribbling and movement allow him to create space and control the flow of the play in midfield. He has an exceptional vision and playmaking ability and he can make decisive passes for teammates.

Many fans thought that the loan of Arthur was a sign of panic and they stated that he won't play many games due to his fitness issues. Well, time will tell but staying at AXA for a two week kind of pre-season training will help him regain fitness and learn the way Liverpool play. He has showed great character (is Brendan still around..? haha)

Well Done Arthur:

Arthur looks determined to stay.. Add to this the fact he is surrounded by top Brazilian talent in the squad and he could well have found his home.. If he manage to stay healthy and get some games under his belt he might be a big help for our team in the quest for new trophies and could be a key figure for many years to come..
