Villa (a) Darwin Nunez
Darwin Nunez Outstanding Away At Aston Villa
As ever we put the vote to your good selves and this time round it was a close run thing after our 3-1 victory at Villa Park.. The reds started well and dominated the first half in our first Prem start since the World Cup.. Darwin Nunez the winner of the vote was absolutely everywhere..
He is just a constant threat.. His pace is frightening at times.. He showed this against City to lay on Mo's goal and he carried on where he left off in this game.. The Villa defenders will be glad to see the back of him..
What he brings to the table is he is constantly looking to get in behind which is a defenders dream if he's on your team cos it's a nice outlet and really stretches the opponents. Once he's gone you just can't catch him..
The Good & Where To Improve
He has contributed to quite a few assists and has scored quite a few goals already this season.. Operating down the left wing he looks extremely comfortable.. As he does down the right too if we are being honest.. Yet that left wing berth could be a shout moving forwards while he gets to understand the Prem..
Last night in commentary I heard an interesting stat that this is only his third full season in top level football so lets give the lad a bit of slack for his obvious shortcomings in these 2 games back.. As well as it still being our pre-preseason too.. I was a striker and it does take a few games to settle in again let me tell you..
So he's missed a few golden chances.. Probably 8 in the last two games.. Now as any coach will tell you. If he's not creating chances then you worry so this is a tiny problem that should soon disappear.. The main problem for me is how easy he drifts offside.. Again a very easy solution.. Always run from behind your man.. His pace will burn that problem up.. Sorted.. Other than that lets see his figures at the end of the season cos I don't think anyone will be upset..
At 23 we have got some player on our hands and Darwin Nunez is your Star Player
A very close second was our numero uno Alisson Becker.. Who was yet again unbelievable between the sticks.. Producing save after save.. And for the romantics amongst us a huge shout goes out to Stefan Bajcetic who looks a real player and scored his first goal for the club with Liverpools third after coming on as a sub..
Your Views..
Once again you all chipped in with your say on the game and your Star Player selection.. Here are a selection of your comments
"Voted for Nunez. Even though he didn't score, he terrorised the Villa defence. He deserves his MOTM Award. No doubt."
Jose
"Nunez for me, yet again didn't give anyone a minute peace and that's what we want. That lightening pace and strength and that never give up attitude is a thing to be admired, the goals will come, I'm sure of that"
Christine
"Nuñez. Yeah he didn't score but he ran riot and caused so much trouble for their defence, he definitely got them rattled. He never gave up. He is pure chaos. He has added so much more to his game, he just needs to balance that with a few more goals"
Pam
"For me was Allison and Darwin ( doesn't score) but work a lot to create chances to mo Salah, Virgil and Bajcetic scored . But Allison a few safes who keeps us on lead So it's 50/50"
Johan
"Robbo should get a vote too for making the most assists in the PL"
Jan
"I think Robbo was great today. He had great energy and had a nice assist to Mo. Darwin, Mo and Alisson was great too."
