In our first game back after the international break, there was hardly any time for the players to prepare as they travelled back from the 4 corners of the planet. Nothing better for JK than an early kick off under these circumstances. I bet he was well chuffed.
These sort of games are all about getting the 3 points. As are all our games obviously. Yet with less time to prep you just got to get over the line. In all honesty it was a very slow, lethargic (to quote Damo..) game. We found it hard to find any rhythm and string any serious passes together in the final third.
Yet with this Liverpool team as discussed at depth they always seem to find a way. World class players do that to the annoyance of opposing teams. Thiago ran the show in midfield albeit for a few mad moments where I just think he got bored.. Diogo Jota finished superbly from a Joe Gomez cross, and Fabinho (the penalty specialist) smashed one into the top corner after some WWF assault on Jota gave us that chance from the spot late on..
Those 3 massive points sets us up nicely for the game of the season so far at The Etihad next week.
