MATCH PREVIEW // Man United v Liverpool
As ever the form guide goes out the window for games like these. Well to a certain extent anyway.. As one of the biggest games on each teams calendar comes early this season as Liverpool head down the East Lancs to Old Trafford for a Sunday afternoon fixture.
2-0.. 2-0.. are The Reds first results of the season. Is there a pattern emerging. Not really.. Both games had we took our chances we could have ran out heavy winners. Not that we aren't taking chances either as both Ipswich & Brentford defended very well. As did we too keep two very valuable clean sheets.
In both games too we looked in control of all aspects of play other than the first half at Portman Road. That could go down to teething problems under the new coach. What was most impressive was the fact we never had to step out of second gear. Playing some very good football in patches. While attacking and defending as a team.
United won their first with a late goal against Fulham and lost to Brighton last time out. Both games could have gone either way. As Fulham missed a few chances while United had one ruled out for offside at Brighton which could have given them the lead.
They look very much the same as last season. On their day like most teams can beat you but leave a lot of space at the back that can be attacked. With Garnacho on the pitch they look a threat and he has to be watched but there will be chances for us to score throughout the match.

THE GAME
Like all games at Old Trafford the fans will be loud and will fire up their team from the kick off and they will be well on the front foot. We will sit deepish and try to contain that threat while looking to silence the crowd. Yet again that 20 minute mark is important. A bit of cool calm head time while also looking to counter when their attacks break down.
The first goal will be important. If they get it they should then sit back and look to counter themselves while we try to draw level. If we get it though you'd expect them same spaces to open up like last season. Unlike last season we look like we could take them chances.
United with their new signings at the back could be a bit more resolute but the midfield is where these games are won and lost and ours is looking pretty good at the minute with loads of energy. Backed up by a more chilled defensive mentality it will be tough to get through our lines so they will attack more from out wide.
Set pieces are a big point of United's attacks so we will again have to be focused. Having Ali in net is a big bonus for us. In attack though the before mentioned counter attacks scream out as being our major threat here. We are looking very quick and decisive with these. As does our patient build up play. Trent & Robbo could also find themselves wide open with a shot at goal..
If we get the first goal then the second will be as important as we don't want a repeat of the two games there last season.
OurLFC DANGERMAN - DIOGO JOTA
Once again you could pick many here. Mo & Diaz on them counters.. Trent & Robbo in defence and attack. Virg from set pieces and Mac Allister pulling the strings and controlling midfield. Yet Jota could be the glue here to link it all up.
We saw against Ipswich and Brentford his qualities. Deadly in front of goal and has started to link up the play with the counter assist for Diaz. The one thing he lacks is that consistency Bobby had in that position. It could be the injuries. It could be building that understanding in this new setup. But once he is there this attacking line becomes formidable..
A goal and an assist here could be on the cards as he looks to exploit the space..
PREDICTION.. 2-0 TO THEM MIGHTY REDS
