Rangers (a) Bobby Firmino

Bobby Firmino:

Where would we be without the 'best in the world' Bobby Fir-Mino this season.. He has been immense and pops up with some crucial goals and performances.

Last night against Rangers he bagged another 2 and laid on a rather skilful assist for Darwin Nunez to get Liverpools third of the night before Mo Salah came on and put the game well and truly to bed..

His first goal coming from a corner where he held off his man really well before flicking his header high into the net.. His second was a quality team effort. The impressive Harvey Elliott flicking a clearance on to the solid and growing in confidence Joe Gomez who raced clear and played a superb pass into the feet of a clever run made by the Brazilian..

The result was never in doubt as Bobby just does not miss these.. He slid the ball effortlessly under the keepers feet.. Which is where all good strikers know where to aim.. Forget smashing it top corner.. The keepers most vulnerable spot is his feet..

Bobby Firmino Is Your Star Player..

The Others:

In a 7-1 away win you'd expect plenty of nominations/votes for Star Player and this one had plenty of options.. Going through the team Alisson had a quiet night other than their goal.. He was confident and assured and his distribution was quality..

Joe Gomez started off shaky but having him and Konate on that right hand side of defence you felt safe and alongside Virg and the returning Robbo you would look no further than that as your starting defence.. No disrespect to Jo-El as he can slot in nicely too..

Hendo & Fabinho were both solid although Hendo should have tracked the run of Arfield much better and should do some major work on his passing.. Carvalho came through his first real test nicely. He didn't set the world on fire but showed some great touches and you can see some real potential there..

The Forwards:

Up top Nunez looks a really exciting prospect. He makes clever runs all the time and he's started to link up nicely with his team mates. A settled team will do him the world of good. He made light work of his goal.. He's a natural.. Bobby we have talked about.. Harvey Elliott was outstanding..

As with Carvalho and Nunez you have to remember how young they are.. These two are coming from different weaker leagues and the Uruguayan is still learning the language.. But Harvey has been here a bit longer and he just grows into matches.

The first half was tough as you'd expect in a tricky away tie.. Yet he never went missing. Tracking back, fighting and always wanting to get on the ball. And in the second half he really came into his own.. Instrumental in a lot of our play and he rightly deserved that goal. The whole red family waited in anticipation for that VAR decision..

What can you say about Mo Salah.. He has been nowhere near the player he can be for quite a while now but he comes on as a sub and scores the quickest hat-trick in Champions League history.. Yes he's broke another record.. and maybe also found his real position on a football pitch..

As we have discussed in you are not performing you have to be dropped to the bench and this decision from Klopp bared some serious fruit.. All in all a great team performance and as ever the winner Bobby was voted for by yourselves..
