FIRST HALF
Before the game we still had a few questions of what to expect. Trent being the big one.. Who started at right back and looked really comfortable and pure class in all aspects of play.. After a well managed first 20 or so you could feel the tempo rising a little and it was Trent who assisted the first goal.
After a free kick was cleared it fell to Trent in that right hand side where we love to see him. He crossed a beautiful ball to Jota who was free in the left hand side of the box. He unleashed an absolute rocket into the top right corner. What a finish..
Once that hit the net Seville came at us a bit to find a reply and it gave us opportunities to hit them on the counter attack. Before the second we got a taste of it when Mo burst clear to have his through ball cleared where an open Jota was waiting..
The second came from a couple of quick passes in midfield released Diaz who cut in and buried another thunderbolt into that top right hand corner.. At 2-0 we were looking very very good and those Klopp style counter attacks were looking polished by the new coach.
A clearance from a free kick found Mo who out muscled his marker. Laid a ball to Jota who found the breaking Szoboszlai. He rocketed down the right wing and squared a ball to Diaz who slotted home from close range.. This was one impressive well orchestrated attack. Exciting times..
3-0 at half time
SECOND HALF
The second half had that friendly feel to it. After a fairly explosive first half it was a bit more of a slower paced start mixed with quite a few substitutions. Not that weren't some good moments mixed in..
Seville brought a goal back after some impressive wing play Peque curled one into the far right corner that had accepted a couple of Liverpool strikes in the first half. Beating Jaros who had come on to replace Alisson Becker who looked extremely impressive in his 60 minute cameo..
The best moment of the half came when the youngster who everyone is talking about Trey Nyoni smashed in quality half volley into the bottom right hand corner to make it 4-1. It was a real top class snap shot from the young lad who's first pro goal in that Kop End will stay with him forever..
SUMMARY
For sure this was a friendly but there were some really good signs of what to expect this season. Not one dimensional at all. There were many strings to the teams bow. Again it is early days but you got the feel that Arne has taken Klopps team and methods and started to perfect them a little.
In the process making the team more solid defensively which is something that had to be addressed. This team will always score goals. If we can stop them going in then we will win more games than we have let slip the last couple of seasons.
