Match Report: RB Salzburg

RB Salzburg 1-0 Liverpool:

After the 5-0 drubbing of their Leipzig franchise namesake we were all expecting a nice cruise.. A few goals.. And a cool little friendly to prepare us for the City game on Saturday..

Bearing in mind RBS are already underway with their season. They would have approached this as any other game.. Relaxed light training in preparation for their next fixture.. Where as the reds have been training hard to get ready for the season and would have had further sessions in the build up to this fixture..

Not to be making excuses of course.. As with a friendly a few years ago against these you know what to expect.. They are young, extremely fit and an extremely talented team. That is how they roll.. They are a breeding ground for the next generation of footballers and it should be applauded.

Their goalscorer Sesko for one looks a real talent and took his goal really well and will for sure be a name you will hear in the future..

Our Side Of The Coin:

Credit where its due and all that but looking at things closely the gulf between the two teams is massive.. Liverpool dominated throughout the game barring some impressive counter attacks against a fairly young Liverpool starting line up and Milner out of position at left back..

The game was as feisty as a pre season game can get.. With 3 bookings telling the tale which is pretty unheard of in friendlies.. They were well up for it as were we.. With better finishing we could have been 2 or 3-1 up at the break.. Missing a few simple ones and the once again impressive Nunez shaving the crossbar..

The second half we started well but the cavalry arrived with half an hour to go and the Austrian outfit were camped in their 18 yard box trying to keep the ball out the net and break out with long balls..

Again we could have been there all night and not scored. It was literally 'One of them games'.. Diaz was running them ragged.. Thiago was just.. Thiago.. Robbo and Trent were peppering them with crosses. Virg and Jo-El won everything to keep them contained and we looked really good..

Again a bit more composure with that final pass is what we needed.. If there is one thing to work on it is that. A little pass for a tap in. The options are nearly always there.. That will come.. Hopefully starting Saturday..
