Liverpool v Brentford PL Preview

WHEN

Liverpool v Brentford.. Saturday 06 May.. 17:30 BST

KEEP UP THE MOMENTUM

The Fulham game played out how we thought.. A lot easier than the previous home game against Spurs. A penalty won us the points on what was a pretty stress free watch.. Brentford however will be a different animal..

They.. Like Brighton have been exciting to watch all season and are worthy of a top level finishing spot in the premier League. They have like an old Wimbledon style togetherness causing mayhem from set pieces. Yet have a cut throat counter attack and can play..

They have caused problems on the road as well as at home.. Beating City a stand out.. So again we will have to be a lot more organised in defence.. It has all the markings of a shootout.. Although maybe a long season has taken a toll on the Londoners legs as they seemed a bit more laboured against Forest last time out.. Yet still got the win..

The reds are looking loads more potent in possession and in general in attack.. Diaz although half match fit has taken things to another level. Curtis & Trent are flying. Gakpo looks stronger and stronger. The more they play together the better they will gel and you feel by the start of next season we will be ready to fly.

In the meantime after the United result midweek those 3 points are again vital in the Champions League fight as everything is still there to play for. Lets take this to the wire..

Quick Stat Check.. Brentford have Won 2, Drawn 1 & Lost 3 of their last 6.. Liverpool have Won 5 & Drawn 1 of their last 6.. The Bees haven't won at Anfield since 1937..

LIVERPOOL TEAM NEWS

We can now add Thiago to Keita, Ramsay & Bajcetic who are ruled out for the season. Bobby, Hendo & Jota are all 50/50 and face late fitness tests and could feature from the bench..

LIVERPOOL LINEUP

Ali, Konate, Virg, Robbo, Trent, Fabs, Curtis, Diaz, Gakpo, Mo, Nunez

BRENTFORD TEAM NEWS

Brentford are without Jansson, Lewis-Potter, Norgaard & Strakosha.. Kristoffer Ajer returns..

DANGERMAN..Ivan Toney.. The striker is a beast.. Dangerous in all aspects of his game. Strong in the air and pacy he spearheads their attack. Takes a cool penalty and pretty nice free kicks too.. Defo one to watch.

THE GAME

As we mentioned earlier in the post this could be another shootout like the Forest & Spurs games of late.. The one thing in our favour is their last six record as they are slightly off the pace with losses to Newcastle & United. Yet they are on the back of two wins against Forest & Chelsea..

Will they sit in and counter..? Quite possibly but if we give up the space which Fulham also exploited at ease then their front 3 will attack it hard. Mbuemo is another to watch and Pinnock causes a bit of hassle from set pieces..

Equally with Diaz on the pitch we look fire.. Trent was raining in some shots from deep and looks unplayable.. That double drag back skill was awesome.. With Hendo and Jota facing those late fitness tests we could maybe unleash 4 of our strikers alongside Curtis and they will not be too keen on facing that.

We should have the majority of possession again and with the confidence of the last 5 wins and a clean sheet last time out we should get stuck into them early.. An early goal would be amazing..

PREDICTION.. 3-2 To Them Mighty Reds..With the defence still giving up so much space and their potent attack you'd expect us to concede. But we are getting that mentality monsters tag back a bit and have a much higher calibre of player than them in attack. Its just getting them to click..

That back 3 still looks shaky and should be a back 4 with Trent in midfield. There's no need to try and be clever. 433 has worked for us well over the years and still would now.. It's just playing players in the right positions.. 4231 would be better and more solid..

So its a matter of who scores more and we certainly can win that battle.. If we take a quick lead and add to it we could be out of sight. If we strengthen up at the point then we could gain another shut out.. Its all on how the manager plays it..

OurLFC DANGERMAN.. Diaz.. Trent has been just frightening but the Colombian is looking fitter and stronger every game. The fans favourite will come flying out traps and look to attack at every opportunity..

With Gakpo & Nunez alongside him the threat of goals, assists and all round quality football is as exciting as it gets.. The quicker that 3 gel the better.. If Mo plays in a more central roll then he will score plenty.. The future looks very bright..
