Man City (a) League Cup

WHO:  Man City..

WHEN:  Thursday 22nd December, 20:00 BST..

WHERE:  THE ETIHAD..

MAN CITY V LIVERPOOL:

After the break for the World Cup the reds are back in action against our friends down the East Lancs.. We are not quite half way through our season and this will be the third time we have faced City already this season.. Good news for us is in the previous two we came out on top and have a trophy out of the mix too..

This time around it's not as straight forward as many other a cup tie in this competition. The usual mix of youngsters gaining valuable minutes and seasoned pro's adding their experience and them too gaining valuable minutes.. While the regular first teamers chill out at home and watch it on the telly resting up for the bigger games so to speak..

This could be seen as another mid preseason friendly where a few of the big guns from each outfit get a bit of a run out.. Still we will see..

LIVERPOOL TEAM NEWS:

The good news for the reds is that over the break the vast majority of players back.. Jo-El Matip, The Ox, Keita, Ramsay to name a few.. Others like Robbo and Kelleher have gotten over little niggles and in general the whole team have recuperated..

The lads have all come back from their World Cup duties with no injuries to report.. Again fitness for all will be assessed.. Konate looks to have recovered too from his injury woes.. After some top quality cameo's for France..

Sadly.. and we are all gutted still is the news that Diaz will be out for quite a while with that knee injury that needed the surgery we were all dreading.. March is stated as a return but let's just watch this space. Get well soon brother..

There are only two other injuries of note. Jota & Arthur.. With calf & thigh problems respectively.. Arthur looks closer to a return than Jota but both still could be out some weeks..

MAN CITY:

City have no injuries currently to report.. There problem is the same as ours in the fact they are waiting on players returns from the World Cup.

DANGERMAN: They have quite a few but you'd think Haaland may get minutes in this one..

LIVERPOOL TEAM:

Again your guess is as good as any but to keep things uniformed we'll have a crack at it..

Kelleher, Ramsay, Nat, Joe, Tsimikas, Bajcetic, Milner, Keita, The Ox, Nunez, Mo

THE GAME:

As we have discussed without any serious knowledge of line ups its a hard one to call.. One thing for sure is they will want to beat us (obviously..) being at home and having not beaten us for a bit.. The other thing for sure is.. We will want to beat them (obviously.. Mark II) let's keep that winning momentum going and keep that seed of doubt firmly planted..

PREDICTION: Anyones guess but 1-2 to the mighty reds.. We aint biassed..

In summary this will be a toughie, it always is at their gaff and as much as teams like to play that next generation of little geniuses.. Another trip to Wembley is what us fans love. Thankfully we have come a very long way in terms of squad depth which allowed them cup runs last season..

Another couple wouldn't go a miss..

OUR DANGERMEN: Darwin Nunez could play a big roll here if picked.. Bajcetic has looked top drawer in Dubai and whenever he's played to be honest.. But the one we are all excited for is BEN DOAK who should surely get minutes here. He's looked great in brief appearances this season. Lets see what he can do against these..
