Full Time: Liverpool 4-2 Spurs
Liverpool in all honesty made light work of dismantling a Tottenham side that looked like they were already on the beach in what was Jurgen Klopps penultimate game at Anfield. Mo, Robbo, Gakpo & Harvey got the goals but it could've been a lot lot more..
First Half
After a bit of a slow start by the reds we clicked into gear and looked like the team of old. We look so much better with Harvey in the side. He's always looking for the ball and forward thinking passes when he gets it. Always on that front foot and snapping into tackles. When he is on that right hand side with Trent & Mo then teams are in trouble.
Buoyed on by the crowd also who were in fine voice the opening goal soon came along. Gakpo who was on fire received a ball wide left, cut inside and delivered a pin point cross on to Mo's head and he finished with ease. That opened the game up big style in our favour. The three mentioned Mo, Trent & Harvey were unleashing shots and crosses from all angles.
The second goal was always needed to make things a bit more comfy and it came just before the half. A nice one-two between Robbo and Mo via the goalkeeper found our left back with an easy tap in with his right foot. Thats two in two for Andy..
2-0 at half time to them mighty reds..
Second Half
Attacking The Kop second half Liverpool carried on where they left off in the first half. Firmly on that front foot and attacking that back line. Harvey who was involved in everything curled a beautiful little pass on to Gasp's head who rose high above the Spurs defender to guide the ball into the net.
Harvey himself chipped in with an absolute pearler. Latching on to a Mo Salah assist which he smashed, bent & curled the ball into the top left hand corner in one action. The game was well and truly won now and Klopp rung the changes.
Stefan Bajcetic came on for a 30 minute cameo which was nice to see but we took our foot firmly off the gas for 10 minutes or so where Spurs grabbed a couple of goals. We lifted things again after that and should have scored a few more. Still a win is a win.. After the run we've been on..
Summary
At 4-0 did anyone think that was it.. Probably not.. Spurs at home is always a good game with plenty of goals.. It should have been 10-3.. The ref again was without wanting to swear. Poor as funk. He was just itching to blow the whistle in their favour and VAR were itching not to give us a penalty.
I read somewhere the other day we should let this go.. Seriously.. Its costing us league titles so we will ignore that theory.. These refs just have to let the game play out. This was a great spectacle for the premier League and English football. Both teams going for it and scoring goals. And that my friends is what we want to see when we switch the match on..
GOALS.. Preferably not so many in our net next season like.. So not wanting to drone on that was an excellent performance by the boys. At 4-0 it's fair that they would switch off. The chances we create are phenomenal.. That will not disappear with a new manager coming in. So there are plenty of positives as we near the end of Jurgen's tenure. We will miss those fist pumps at the end of the match.. Thats for sure..
